Research Interests

To a large extent, research efforts in Natural Language Processing, and the specific languages to which these efforts are being targeted, have been biased by the linguistic resources available, for example annotated corpora. However, these resources represent only a small fraction of the vast pool of language varieties and domains that humans use in their daily lives. My goal is to move beyond these traditional lines of research and extend current approaches to novel areas. For instance, I am exploring the use of transfer learning techniques for the processing of bilingual discourse, and the use of language models in areas such as communication disorders.
