On our last full day in Baden Baden, I led Christine on a tour of the old part of Baden-Baden. As noted above, it is compact, old, and well maintained. Lots of narrow streets carved into the side of the hill leading to the Neue Schloss.
Neue Schloss - our goal.
Here we are at Markt Platz again - about halfway up the hill

A bit further up, we stopped on a hillside terrace to get a close up view of the artwork adorning the front of this old church.

Yet another rest stop - almost to the top now!

Alas, while we reached the Neue Schloss, we couldn't figure out how to enter the grounds (we already knew that the castle itself was boarded up.)
On the way back from Neue Schloss, we found signs leading to the Roman Bath ruins

So, in we went to take the tour. The Roman Bath Ruins are preserved in a museum-like setting, with catwalks taking you around and interesting lighting showing off cutaway views of Roman construction techniques.

More Roman Bath ruins - creatively lit to show off the channels allowing heat to travel through the walls from the fires in the lower level.
On the way back down the hill, we found this wonderful monument tucked away between buildings
Frederic the Great (and admirers)
And, we're done. Christine seems to have enjoyed her day as a tourist!
