Dr. Johnny Jacobs is a graduate of Birmingham-Southern College, the University of Illinois, and the University of Alabama, where he received a doctorate in education. A music educator with the Jefferson County School System for 36 years, he served at Dixie Junior High School, Minor High School, Berry High School, and for 13 years, he was Supervisor of Bands. A past president of the Alabama Bandmasters Association and the Alabama Music Educators Association, Dr. Jacobs is now honored in the Alabama Bandmasters Hall of Fame. He has taught trumpet to numerous students at Birmingham- Southern College, Samford University, and University of Alabama at Birmingham, for a combined total of over 4 decades. In addition to conducting the Birmingham Community Concert Band, Dr. Jacobs has remained an active trumpet performer in numerous Birmingham area orchestras and now plays principal trumpet with Celebration Winds.
