Birmingham Community Concert Band Association

The Birmingham Community Concert Band Association is a non-profit organization that sponsors the Birmingham Community Concert Band and the Birmingham Wind Ensemble. Both groups are comprised of volunteer musicians aged from their teens to their '80s. Membership is open to anyone. Clarinets, double reeds, and percussion are particularly welcome to join us! The Birmingham Community Concert Band is conducted by Mr. Spencer Shaw and Dr. Johnny Jacobs. It rehearses on Tuesdays from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the band room at Samford University. The Band presents 3-4 concerts a year between the months of January and November, and in the month of December, it presents 4 concerts of holiday music. Rehearsals are occasionally moved to other locations; newcomers should phone ahead. Check the News for last minute changes.

The Birmingham Wind Ensemble is conducted by DeWitt Self and rehearses on Thursdays from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the band room at Shades Valley High School. Mostly sight reading with occasional performance preparation.
