

The UAB Blazer BEST Robotics competition was held on October 17th, 2009, at the Bartow Arena. The competition attracted teams of students from 25 different schools. Students were given 6 weeks to build a robot that could accomplish certain tasks on the BEST playing field. On the day of the competition, schools competed in a variety of challenges to determine a winner.
The event was sponsored by the UAB School of Engineering. The CIS department and UAB ACM offered assistance in configuring and running the scoring system. The CIS volunteers at Blazer BEST were: Jeff Frees, Jeff Gray, Dalorion Johnson, David O'Gwynn, Dixon Shuttleworth, Robert Tairas, and Nicole Whitehead.
