CIS undergraduate student Morgan Wilson was given the opportunity to intern at NASA during the summers of 2008 and 2009. She describes her experience below.
"After having worked throughout the school year doing IT work at Birmingham during my junior year, I wanted to find an internship in Huntsville that I could participate in during the summer while home from UAB. I applied at several places, but had my heart set on Teledyne Brown Engineering. I knew that they worked with NASA and that fascinated me. Fortunately, they hired me on that summer and contracted me out to NASA doing IT work at Redstone Arsenal. I had a wonderful summer troubleshooting and installing hardware, designing and implementing websites, repairing user machines, setting up and maintaining user accounts and more. I enjoyed my internship so much and desperately wanted to return the next summer. Teledyne contacted me and I was privileged to return for another summer internship where I did many of the same things as the previous summer, but I have been able to do more server-side troubleshooting and maintenance as well as more web design work. It’s been such an amazing experience and I have been fortunate to have many people around willing to teach me skills that will help me in my future career."
