

A UAB team consisting of Ritu Arora, Yu Sun, and Zekai Demirezen has won the semifinals of the Imagine Cup Software Design Challenge. As an award, they will be flown to Cambridge for the Finals in early May. The UAB team will compete with 14 other teams from schools in the US. The top 3 then go to Cairo, Egypt for the World Finals.
The team's project ("PDADocter") is a mobile application that serves as an expert system that assists in child health and maternal health for underdeveloped nations. They have developed an application that can be customized for local languages and provides a pictorial diagnosis system for prognosis and treatment of diseases. It provides a mobile healthcare infrastructure for developing and underdeveloped countries.
