

The UAB Blazer BEST Robotics competition was held on October 11th, 2008, at the Bartow Arena. The event brought 23 schools to the UAB campus to participate in various events. The core event was a robotics field competition, where students had six weeks to prepare a robot that would assemble an airplane from raw parts. Over 1000 were in attendance at the event.
The event was sponsored by the UAB School of Engineering. The CIS department and UAB ACM offered assistance in configuring and running the scoring system and time keeping, as well as judging web pages. The CIS participants at Blazer BEST were:
