Bioinformatics Programs

  • Bioinformatics Fast Track for Biology Majors
    This program is designed to allow the student to complete a biology BS degree followed by a computer science MS degree with a specialization in bioinformatics in 5 1/2 years instead of the traditional 6-7 years. More details will be posted soon.

  • Bioinformatics MS Program
    The department's MS degree with a bioinformatics specialization.

  • Bioinformatics PhD Program
    The department's PhD degree with a bioinformatics specialization.

Computer Forensics Program

Students in the computer forensics certificate program must complete a prescribed sequence of 21 semester hours, following the recommended course sequence. They must also register (for tracking and advising purposes) with the Department of Computer and Information Sciences (Ms. Kathy Baier, Room 116, Campbell Hall).

UAB Crime Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU)

This 8-week summer program is designed for undergraduate students who want “hands-on” research experience and for those who are interested in pursuing post-graduate degrees in fields such as Criminal Justice, Forensic Science, Computer Science, Sociology, Public Policy, Biology, and Chemistry. The program is funded by the National Science Foundation (contingent upon final budgetary approval). See the UAB Crime REU page for more information.
