DeWitt Self has conducted the Birmingham Wind Ensemble since 2003. Mr. Self has devoted 50 years to music education in Jefferson County public schools, including 32 years as Band Director at Leeds High School. Educated in voice and band at Jacksonville State College, Mr. Self also received a Master's Degree in Music from the University of Alabama. He has served as choir director of numerous area churches. In addition to music, Mr. Self is an active electronics hobbyist.
