U.S. Department of Education WWW Server
This WWW server is provided under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Education's (ED) Institutional Communications Network (INet) project, and is managed and operated by the Education Information Resources Division of the Office of Educational Research and Improvement (OERI/EIRD).

Education Center of the Global Network Navigator (GNN)
This part of GNN is devoted specifically to education and offers a range of resources for K-12 educators, including a K-8 reading curriculum center, an online magazine to help organize and guide educators to resources, projects and people on the Internet and to provide schools with information on how to integrate online networks and projects in the classroom.

AIMS (Activities Integrating Mathematics and Science) Database
The AIMS Activity Database is a comprehensive listing of all AIMS activities currently in print. The database catalogs the activities by title, subject, course, grade, and book.

Intercultural Email Classroom Connections
The IECC (Intercultural E-Mail Classroom Connections) mailing lists are provided by St. Olaf College as a free service to help teachers and classes link with partners in other countries and cultures for e-mail classroom pen-pal and project exchanges. Their Web site is an excellent place to begin you search for partner classes, worldwide.

Odyssey of the Mind
A world-wide, nonprofit organization that promotes creative team-based problem solving in a school program for students from kindergarten through college. The program helps students learn divergent thinking and problem solving skills while participating in a series of challenging and motivating activities, both inside and outside their regular classroom curriculum.

Newsgroup: k12.ed.maths
Covers teaching methods, student problems, and mathematical mysteries. Often carries news of maths related online projects on the the Internet.

Chance Database.
This site houses a database of materials designed to help teach a new introductory course cooperatively developed by Middlebury, Grinnell, Spelman, University of California-San Diego and Dartmouth. CHANCE is a case-study course based on current events as reported in daily newspapers and current journals.

Describes a comprehensive, multimedia collection of materials and programs for K-12 mathematics and science education.

Provides an extensive list of lesson plans for primary and secondary school teachers.

Picture Project Lesson
Created by Joanne Oshiro (joanneo@kalama.doe.hawaii.edu), this lesson plan was put together as a part of a pilot project for the Hawaii Department of Education. It may be copied for classroom use. This is an excellent example of a simple online "exchange" project all educator's new to the Internet will be interested in getting involved with.

K-12 Internet Project
Education and Lifelong Learning is the basis for the K-12 Internet Project. This project works in cooperation with the NASA Education Office to help educators across the country make effective classroom use of the many NASA projects and data sets available over the Internet.
