HW0 deals with getting started in VTK. It should take no longer than one (1) week to complete.
HW1 has to do with Height Fields. One week is sufficient for a mediocre solution; allow two weeks for a good solution.
HW2 is about flow fields. Allow one to three weeks, depending on your level of ambition.
All three of the above assignments should be completed by mid-term. The remainder of the semester will be devoted to your PROJECT. You are expected to find a real scientific data set, or an interesting open technical problem, and build an application which visualizes it. Project proposals will be due at mid-term. Progress reports will be presented periodically in class. A final presentation and a written paper will be due on the date and time of the officially scheduled final exam (there will be no final exam!).
