- 1.
Using the class textbook, World Wide Web, Sterne Library, or any other
available resource, look into topics which are of research interest in the
programming languages community. Proceedings of conferences such as the ACM
Symposium on Principles of Programming Languages and the ACM Conference on
Programming Language Design and Implementation would be especially good sources.
- 2.
Write a proposal about the topic, including a proposed
title for your report, your name, a paragraph which briefly describes the
topic, a paragraph which briefly describes your interest in the topic and
what you expect to learn by researching it, and a few key references you
expect to use in your research. This proposal should be 12 point font and
a maximum of 1 page. Please turn this proposal in by
Monday, October 31, 2005.

Complete the research report by Wednesday, December 7, 2005.
The first page should
be a title page with the title and your name. The second page should be a
100 (or less) word abstract which gives an executive summary of your report.
The body of your report should be a maximum of 10 pages in 12 point font.
The final pages of your report should be a bibliography of the relevant
references in this area. You will be graded for clarity in writing and
organization, completeness and correctness.
