Using the class textbook, World Wide Web, Sterne Library, or any other available resource, look into topics which are of research interest in the programming languages community. Proceedings of conferences such as the ACM Symposium on Principles of Programming Languages and the ACM Conference on Programming Language Design and Implementation would be especially good sources. At the end of the semester, you will turn in a research report on the topic you choose so select something that is interesting to you. Write a proposal about the topic, including a proposed title for your report, your name, a paragraph which briefly describes the topic, a paragraph which briefly describes your interest in the topic and what you expect to learn by researching it, and a few key references you expect to use in your research. This proposal should be 12 point font and a maximum of 1 page.
