The Federal Trade Commission issued a press release yesterday regarding a "Notorious Rogue Internet Service Provider" that was shut down with the aid of researchers at UAB.
Modularity is one of the most important properties of a software
design, with significant impact on changeability and evolvability. In this talk, a logical framework will be presented that takes design decisions as first-class members and expresses their relations using constraint networks.

Three CIS graduate students, Ritu Arora, Zekai Demirezen and Yu Sun, and their PDA Docter project are featured in the Birmingham News. The project aims to use PDAs as mobile medical diagnostic tools for use in poor, rural areas of the world.The three formed a competition team, called Arora Borealis, and are currently national finalists in the Microsoft Imagine Cup.

The CIS Department will host its first Fulbright Student - Tomaž Lukman, a PhD student from the Jožef Stefan Institute in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Tomaž will spend the 2009-2010 academic year collaborating with faculty and students in the SoftCom lab.
